Solís Rivera El maestro Solís Rivera también fungió como Jefe de Gabinete (1986-1990), Embajador para Asuntos Centroamericanos (1994-1996) y Director General de Política Exterior (1996-1998) del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Costa Rica. Fue Secretario de Relaciones Internacionales (1991-1994) y Secretario General (2002-2003) del Partido Liberación Nacional de Costa Rica (socialdemócrata). Es autor o coautor de ocho libros y más de cuarenta publicaciones académicas en temas de política exterior, historia política, integración regional y política costarricense y centroamericana. Luis G. Solís, Master of Arts in Latin American Studies from Tulane University, Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Costa Rica. He is professor of History and Political Science at the University of Costa Rica, and has served as Fulbright Scholar at the University of Michigan and Associate Researcher at the Latin American and Caribbean Center of Florida International University in Miami. Other academic administration positions held include Academic Director of Costa Rica´s Universidad Nacional; Deputy Director of the Department of Political Science at the University of Costa Rica; Associate Dean of the School of Social Sciences at the University of Costa Rica and Director of the Central American Graduate Program in Political Science at the University of Costa Rica. Professor Solís also served as Chief of Staff (1986-1990), Ambassador for Central American Affairs and Director General for Policy at the Costa Rican Ministry for Foreign Affaris. He was also Secretary of International Relations (1991-1994) and later Secretary General of Costa Rica’s National Liberation Party (social democrat). He is author or co-author of eight books and
more than forty academic publications in English and Spanish on Central
American and Costa Rican political history, politics, foreign affairs
and regional integration. |
